Controlled Assessment 2 of 6Another very good controlled assessment session which saw everyone making progress. It is good to see the amount of technical language that people are using and showing a real understanding of the issues surrounding representations. Make sure that your points are comparing the evidence as much as possible and always include a comment on how different audiences might respond to the codes that you are analysing. We will take a break from controlled assessments next lesson so that you can refresh your memories about the language and points that need to be made - and to allow you all to score more points! Talking of more points, can you respond to this post outlining how you feel that representations of men or women have changed over the past 50 years? I have provided some images to help you out.

HOME LEARNING Welcome back after a long holiday - isn't it great to get back in the swing of things? Today we tackled some very difficult assumptions about masculinity and femininity and hopeful you are now beginning to question some of the social norms that we naturally take on board as being common sense. I am sorry for pointing out the inherent inequality between the sexes that our society has created - however here is your chance to maybe try and redress the balance if you think you can. remember the image shown here? Can you think of any other words that can be used to describe masculinity and femininity which could be seen as being more positive from a feminine point of view? What words would you like to see added to the list? Leave your comments. HOME LEARNING What a confusing world the Radio is! Hopefully you now know the difference between a STING, a RAMP and a BED and how to use them to make your radio documentaries more effective. You also had some time to experiment with GarageBand, which you will be using to create your radio documentaries over the coming weeks. Next lesson we return to your market and audience research when we will be examining the data that you have managed to compile through your questionnaires - so remember to bring in your completed copies!
There was some very good progress today. Many of you are really starting to get to grips with the template and the more sophisticated nature of the Photoshop work that is needed. We have 3 lessons left now to produce your product. Thoughts should be turning to capturing or bringing in appropriate images to use for your cover art. Make sure that you are still considering the TARGET AUDIENCE that you have defined in your planning and on your brief sheet. Remember that we looked at how this cover uses established brands such as EA to attract a Mainstream audience, male players on the cover to attract a male audience and even recognisable football organisations such as FIFA, Man Utd and Chelsea to attract football fans. You also need to know what you have used to attract your target audience. |
